Although the main thrust of this webpage is Imperial German, I try to approach my German collecting in the same way British collectors approach British medal collecting, focusing more on the research than the medal. Over the years there have been British medals and groups I could just not resist.

The group to Lt. Winton is a wonderfully "aggressive" group. It also has the grisly honour of being a group that moves the "Ghurka legend" of decapitation with a single swipe into the real world.

Lt. Owen was blinded in the first action of the war in South West Africa and may well have been South Africa's first casualty.

W. Burbige fought with the 24th foot at Chilianwala, one of the British infantries greatest moments.
